Front and rear gardens of a Victorian villa to the north of Edinburgh.

We were asked to create contemporary designs for both the front and rear gardens of a property that had recently been redeveloped and extended. To the front we designed a formal, easy to maintain, garden along a central path to the front door, with box lined lawns on either side. To the rear an L-shaped garden was divided and given height and structural interest with the use of timber arches, interplanted with pollarded lime trees. A contemporary layout of lawns, gravel and sandstone paving was complemented with the use of clipped box balls set in the gravel and used in tall black planters.
